The Bahrain World Trade Center is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Manama and a must-see point on the city’s tourist map. The complex consists of two slender, sail-shaped towers, each 240 meters tall, inaugurated in 2008. Each tower has about 50 floors, and their distinctive design stands out against the rest of Manama’s skyline.
BWTC is one of the first skyscrapers in the world to integrate wind turbines into its architecture. Three horizontal turbines built between the towers generate around 675 kW each, covering 11–15% of the complex’s energy needs. This pioneering blend of modern architecture and renewable energy makes BWTC unique both visually and technologically.
Why is it worth seeing and photographing BWTC?
The building stands out at any time of day or year, not only because of its shape but also thanks to its stunning illuminations.
Its unique sail-like silhouette makes a perfect backdrop for photos.
The moving turbines, visible from many parts of Manama, add a dynamic, eye-catching element to the architecture.
The best time to capture it is just before sunset.
Unfortunately, there is no observation deck at the top of the building. So, the view of Manama from BWTC is reserved only for clients of offices housed within the towers.
You can take photos with the towers in the background, or visit Moda Mall at the base of the building and snap pictures right underneath them.
